Sobre
I, Telma C. F. Fonseca, currently serve as an adjunct professor at the Postgraduate Program in Nuclear Science and Techniques at UFMG in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Additionally, I am a member of WinBrasil - Women in Nuclear Association, which is affiliated with WiN Global, a nonprofit organization of women who work professionally in various fields of nuclear energy and applications of ionizing radiation, including medicine, health, regulatory authorities, industry, or as independent researchers.
Between 2014 and 2017, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centro de Desenvolvimento da Tecnologia Nuclear (CDTN/CNEN) in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil.
In January 2014, I earned my Ph.D. from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Department of Oncology, Radiotherapy, at K.U. Leuven - Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. During my Ph.D., I conducted research in the laboratory of Anthropogammametry (AGM), with a focus on Radiation Protection Dosimetry and Calibrations at the Studiecentrum voor Kernenergie - Centre d'Etude de l'Energie Nucleaire (SCK-CEN).
In 2015, I was honored with the "Laurent Exmelin" award from PROCORAD, the Association for the Promotion of Quality Control in Radiotoxicological Analysis, for my Ph.D. thesis titled "Improvement of In vivo Measurements by the Development and Application of a 3D Human Body Library based on Polygonal Mesh Surfaces for WBC set-up calibration."
I have a deep interest in internal dosimetry, dose calculation in radiotherapy, and nanodosimetry, with a particular emphasis on computational models, Monte Carlo codes, and mathematical calculations. Additionally, I now serve as an Editor Member of Applied Radiation and Isotopes (ARI) - International Scientific Journal.
